统考连续四次“第一名”,小学英语组是怎么做到的?Making English Happen


温州森马协和国际学校自2017年9月创校以来,连续四次参加市或区的质量监控,今年再次获得瓯海区教育质量综合奖,其英语成绩遥遥领先连续四次“第一名”。“四连冠”的背后有哪些秘密呢?今天就让我们走近这些创造记录的老师们:

协和的英语教学是协和教育的一个“窗口”,透过这扇窗,我们可以窥见中西融合教育的多元丰富,更可触碰到在“融合”教育理念渲染下,孩子们独有的“理解,宽容”品格之美。

也许很多人会疑惑: “中西融合”理念下的英语教学应该是什么样的?中国老师和外国老师的课程又是怎么设计的?这里的孩子又是凭什么,英语能如此优秀?

我的回答很简单:

 中西合璧,造就“不一样”的美 

在协和,我们的中西方老师不是分别教什么,我们更多的是如果去做合作教学,如何发挥各自的优势,如何相辅相成提高学生的综合语言能力。在协和这个大家庭里老师们更多的是集体备课,集体研讨,相互取经,共同提升。

 协和的老师“不一样” 

优质的外教团队,触手可及的口语氛围,是协和校园里一道美丽的风景线。在这里孩子们用英语和外教交流学习是生活的常态。而我们的中教团队更是人才济济。我们的团队里不乏市区级教学设计获奖的老师,也不乏在课堂实战中让人为之惊艳的演绎着。更难能可贵的是,我们的老师亲切和蔼,不忘初心,勇于奉献,是孩子们的良师更是益友。且问这样的资源和团队,难道不是造就孩子们优秀的必然吗?

在协和成长的孩子不仅会“学”,还很“与众不同”

你看,孩子们的老师是世界的老师,孩子们的校园文化是国际文化,孩子的成长环境告诉他们世界本该如此丰富多元。相信等协和的孩子们长大了,他们的心里会埋下了世界的影子,“尊重理解,团结合作”之花将在那里绽放。而这些都将成就“不一样”的他们——祖国的栋梁。

At Wenzhou, teaching English as an additional language for learners, is given the support, understanding and patience of the teachers. Our teachers meet, extend and enrich the children on this joint path.

Teachers share ideas, work collaboratively and there is a co-operative process between the ELA, Homeroom and Bilingual Teachers, setting a very sound English language foundation on which to build.

In terms of a global education, and our focus on East meets West, we make use of best international didactic language practice, brought to us by our international teachers from around the world, blended with professional Chinese expertise.

All teachers work towards a common vision, supporting the English Language in the following three ways. 1. English is taught as a subject.  2. Art, Music and PE are taught as bilingual classes.  3. Inquiry is taught in the medium of English for most of the lesson.  This is all done in a team-teaching fashion alongside a Chinese co-teacher.  Hence, both Chinese and Western teachers create this immersive English environment.  The mother tongue is always there for learning support. 

This fully collaborative holistic language approach enhances the success we are achieving at our school.

作为一名长期奋战在一线的英语老师,我知道教学质量是一所学校的名片,因此我秉承着学校“中西融合”的教学理念,在学校领导大力支持下,在教研组同事们的精诚协作下,打破了六年级教学的填鸭式传统模式,在实践中形成了富有自己特色的英语教学方法,进而成功吸引了六年级学生的眼球,爱上了英语学科。我的学生们更是连续2届拿下区英语学科毕业考统测均分一等奖的好成绩。

在我看来,这仅仅是我教师之路的一部分,我坚信教育应该怀着一颗纯粹的初心,陪伴学生成为最好的自己。

Congratulations to grade six students on their success in the government exams. Our students experienced this beautiful accomplishment after exerting hard work in Primary. We are very proud of our SUIS Wenzhou campus’ 2018-2019 grade six class.

Planning excellent lessons takes a multitude of preparation and efforts. Knowing the students, their language abilities, strengths and weaknesses is always important. As part of my diagnostic and formative assessments, I looked for evidence of previous learning. Hence, I was able to form a better understanding of each Child’s character, learning style, language level, and any existing challenges. Furthermore, I sought valuable insights from their grade five teachers from last year. Lastly, As I prepared for my ELA lessons, I considered many of my students’ interests, hobbies, learning styles, abilities and challenges.

Lastly, we have seen the growth and progress grade six made in one year. This prize comes as a valuable addition to their many accomplishments. We encourage them to build on their good work habits and past learning experiences. We stress that our students continue to be life long learners, thus, to continue the East meets West legacy.
